Breeder Info

We are Maija and Sven Markelin from Helsinki, Finland. Cats have always been close to our hearts, but because of our children's allergies we could never before have them. Our interest in cats started Christmas 1996 when our first cat Tiger adopted us and our home.

Having moved back to Finland in 2002 we acquired our first Ocicat, Maisa, as a companion to Tiger. We already knew about the Ocicat breed having seen them in shows and through other breeders. We fell immediately in love with their character, their sociable nature and their lively ways. We certainly also took notice of their gorgeously graceful outlook.

We got interested in the catshow business after having acquired our second Ocicat, Tiiti. Tiiti had already started a promising show career before she moved to our home. We promised the breeders we would continue to take her to showes, and that is how it started.

Breeding for us does not mean only raising kittens; our cats are family members and we have kittens based on the life situation and on the cats' terms. We give our cats only first class nutrition and treat them for worms and give them their shots regularly.

The catteryr name, Topspot Ocicats, has been registered since December 2003.
